PERSONALITY
TW: sex work.

One of Sylvie's most noticeable traits is her playfulness. Part of her way of interacting with others is to poke fun at them and have a laugh or two at their expense. Conversation is a game to be played and she showcases the same childish glee at having the upper hand or winning a round that she would stepping into the fresh, newly fallen snow. Because on the inside, Sylvie is perpetually ten years old. She finds an almost innocent joy at playing around. Except when the games aren't so innocent, of course - at those times she can be very adult, indeed.

As part of her escort training with M. Bonfils, Sylvie has polished her already charming personality to perfection and she has developed a way of sweet-talking men, so that they feel their egos stroked and their masculinity validated, something that makes many react by taking an immediate interest in her, sexual or otherwise. The thing about Sylvie's charms is that they're completely genuine, often she truly feels a fondness for the clients to whom she provides her services. Although it is their money and influence she's after, it's their feelings for her in which she reflects herself. By nature, she's a social butterfly, fluttering from one guest to the next at M. Bonfils' many events and she has made a sport out of flirting, as well as she's made herself the champion of that same sport.

Having grown up with a mother who struggled to provide for her, Sylvie has been drawn to glitter and gold, to excess, since she was very young. She dreamed of moving to Paris to become famous, regardless of what she'd have to do to acquire said fame. Sylvie is as materialistic as they come, to her the lifestyle she leads is made up for in spades by the jewelry she receives, the dresses, the attention and the understated influence she holds now in Parisian high society. Her hunger for materialistic things has also made her very selfish and she isn't one to shy away from throwing others under the bus, if it's to her own advantage. Even when it's someone she cares about. Sylvie Baudin now Gagnon is in it for herself.

And Sylvie thrives in this milieu that she has come to call home. She thrives not only because she's beautiful and charming, but because she's intelligent. She did well in school, even as it didn't hold her attention, especially subjects like French and history earned her high marks and this savviness she's brought with her from Chartres, fully able to discuss politics and other matters with the gentlemen she's accompanying, though always with the respectful acknowledgment of their superior understanding of the matter, of course. More than her intelligence, though, it's her knack for observing the people around her and really seeing them which brings her to the forefront of her own game. She can't mindread or anything so silly, but she can often sense where people's weaknesses lie and what their strengths are and she can play on this knowledge - long before the people in question catch onto her knowing.

It's her secret weapon and one she wields with the greatest sophistication.

HISTORY
TW: implied physical child abuse, implied sexual abuse, mention of underage sexual activity, sex work.

The escort known as Sylvie Gagnon wasn't born to a life of flashlight and gold and glitter. As the oldest daughter, originally named Sylvie Baudin, of a single mother in Chartres, she was born to be unremarkable and forgotten, the kind of existence that her younger sister, Stéphanie, would eventually lead to perfection. However, Sylvie wasn't that kind of girl - she wanted the drama, the riches, the fame and all the men of high society living in Paris. Growing up, she began dating the boys of Chartres for gifts and attention, soon becoming known as the local slut and caring very little, less than her mother who worked as a teacher at one of the schools. Throughout Sylvie’s tackle with puberty, the two would butt heads on a regular basis, to such a degree that Sylvie in the end decided to leave Chartres and aim for the glitz of Paris on her own. At this point she was only 16 years old.

Arriving in Paris with her mother's stolen credit card which was quickly blocked, Sylvie set about making a living, doing what she did best. Seducing men to make them pay for her food, her clothes, her hostel rooms and what other expenses there were to living on your own in a metropolis like Paris. She climbed the ladder only slowly, moving from one questionable acquaintance to the next, until she met Christian, a photographer working in the pornographic industry. Not long after their first introduction, she moved in with him and became his girlfriend, although she was still underage and he was in his early thirties. Christian would, however, become the stepping stone to the greatness she had hunted from the beginning. On one of his sets, she met the socialite known in these circles simply as M. Bonfils. Bonfils owned an escort service and took an interest in Sylvie, inviting her to come work for him, an offer she wasn't slow to accept. She bid her dear Christian adieu and moved into Bonfils' downtown mansion full of girls whose stories probably weren't very different from Sylvie’s, soon to be known as Marguerite's own.

Making Sylvie train under his experienced escort, Juliette, Bonfils made sure the six months until Sylvie’s 18th birthday were spent on making her ready for the task at hand. Sylvie took to being an escort as a fish takes to water and flourished in the mansion. When the time came for her to make her debut, she was a raging success and soon men flocked around her to have a moment of her time, then to buy an evening and hopefully a night in her company. Sylvie finally had the life she'd always dreamt of, a life of riches and fame and attention and although the price was heavy drinking, frequent substance abuse and a complete restriction of her personal freedoms, she thought it was a fair trade.

In the years after her debut, Sylvie would develop a complex love-hate relationship to Juliette who would eventually remain her closest competition. Juliette stayed an at least semi-popular escort with Bonfils far into her forties and thus, filled the niche demand for an older woman, although most of his girls would leave or mysteriously disappear once they hit their mid-thirties. As such, Sylvie knows she's living and working on borrowed time, especially as she begins nearing thirty.

The love part of their relationship was both emotional and physical. Through Juliette, Sylvie learned how it felt having a connection to someone that went beyond sex, although they definitely fucked as well, always wild and angry and passionate in some way. However, unlike any of her men, it was also a deeply intimate relation and she was desperate for it, despite how Juliette played the game just as well as her and they would continuously and consciously hurt each other, backstabbing at any given opportunity. Still, if nothing else, Juliette was Sylvie’s first, her first anything.

ABILITIES
SEDUCTION. Having been trained as an escort by M. Bonfils since she was 18 and always making use of her natural charm, Sylvie has a way of making men feel validated and as a result, to make them want her.
